I think what’s going on with OWL players right now is a symptom of gamer/streamer culture, not of anything OWL or Blizzard are doing themselves.

There’s nothing wrong with the league, but something wrong with gaming culture in general. Gamers like to talk down on physical sports players but the moment that kids start playing sports at a young age they’re taught societal etiquette and how to present themselves. And those who don’t learn that get weeded out…

YUP. It’s almost as if a toxic game community breed shit humans. Then trying to act like those kids are anything but, is just setting up for failure. Ignore those that argue “but big sports have bad guys too”. It’s a bullshit argument. OWL is small compared to something like the MLB, but yet we see these stories about…

They don’t pull these guys out of the general population of OW players. They’re the best of the best, the top 1%. They’re also basically children who grew up on the internet, learning to socialize in insulated communities where toxic and questionable behavior is rewarded.

Gamer culture has shitty elements and it’s just showing through the more we pay attention to it.

Blizzard should just scrap OWL at this point tbh. Literally every week we find out another player is a garbage human being, clearly there is either something wrong with their screening process or something wrong with the general population of OW players.

Didn’t realize cosplayers were all engineers and experienced in robotics. You should let Boston Dynamics know about these cosplayers out there that are going to put them out of business...
