I remember it being known as blowjobgate.

I watched The Abyss this weekend. I didn’t really know what it was about, so I was kind of expecting “Alien underwater,” but that was not what it was at all. Well, there are aliens, but they aren’t trying to kill/lay eggs in the people. I wouldn’t call it an essential piece of filmmaking, but the movie is very

I watched The Abyss this weekend, and when I saw that one character had a pet rat, I spent the entire movie worrying that it would die to provide some pathos to the movie. I am happy to report back that I was mistaken, and the rat survives to the end of the movie! Agree with you, rats are very sweet and loveable, and

I guess I just missed most 1998 movies at the time of release. I didn’t even realize some of these came out that year. But this list is closer to the one I would have made of top movies of that year. Fear And Loathing is a masterpiece any way you look at it. The Wedding Singer is surprisingly sweet. And holy crap, why

Same sort of thing here. Got out of an abusive, violent relationship after I discovered violence was actually wrong. Graduated college in no condition to move on to a proper career. Was unemployed for a while and then began dating my husband.

That article was gold! “It’s the Free Bird of my work-related anecdotes.” A nice reminder that this site once used editors.

I started out watching Freak Show and wondering why people were slamming it so hard. Later, I watched Murder House and was blown away by how much I liked it and how well it worked. Suddenly, I got why everyone was so disappointed in Freak Show.

“Where we’re going, we don’t need eyes” they said.

Those truly were dark days. Some men had impressive muscles, but we saw them not.

Not only that, but she literally saves his life at one point during the movie.

Yes! The characters HAVE to be interesting for the things they do to be interesting.

As a person whose only experience with Deadpool is the movies, I was surprised at how much I liked Cable!

I made it as far as the second season and decided I didn’t like any of the characters or care what happened to them. I also found the show's slavish devotion to period details oppressive rather than enjoyable. I can't imagine giving it a second, let alone third try!

Don't forget: They are also portable and resist going stale! Perfect food for someone who could demand a snack at any time.

This is indeed a nice story. Thank you for sharing it with us!

ItI begs the question of why there aren’t more movies like it!

I feel compelled to point out that he can be bipolar and an abusive partner at the same time. Mental health issues probably do make it harder for a sufferer to resist the urges towards power, control and violence, but essentially those are two separate problems.

Generally that’s true. If you want to watch something that would be a normal live-action movie, rendered in animation, try watching Persepolis. It’s an amazing movie, really emotionally affecting, really well-made, and it’s a black and white animation. It’s a shame it doesn’t seem to have inspired more of those to be

Agreed. Chris Pine channels Shatner’s Kirk very effectively and thus grounds the crew. They really need him, he’s a key ingredient. I also agree with your other point vis a vis Quinto.

Sure but, Chris Pine as William Shatner? I’m always up for more of that.
