I wondered what was so unique about this from a 90's kid perspective, since it’s not like we didn’t have The Watcher In the Woods and all the things you describe. Also lots of kids watched Poltergeist and Jaws IIRC. I’m curious about this “Harry Potter horror backlash” the article talks about. Yes, HP was huge and not

That header image/headline combo is just perfect!

Ah yes, Heathers! I was just under 13 when it came out and I asked my mom to let me watch it but she said she thought it would warp my mind. I rented it when I was old enough and loved it so much! It was my favorite movie until True Romance came out.

It sounds to me as if he's trying to sound exactly like Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. And he's succeeding!

I’d be willing to consider it if AMC were one of the nicer chains in my area, but as far as I can tell, it’s the least nice. Other theaters have reclining seats and better concessions.

Yes! I only came here to point out how very perfect the header image is!

That movie was so scary to me when I was little.

Why yes, that does sound like something I would like to watch. Thanks for the recommendation!

I can always tell when it’s Kotaku because it drones on and on. At least AVC writers know how to be concise!

A-fuckin-men

I think hubby’s wife’s friend’s comment was inexcusably gross and absolutely merits her being uninvited. And it’s weird that the wife is so afraid of confronting her friend for her gross behavior. I think this speaks to a larger problem either in the marriage or at least on the part of the wife. Everything else you’re

I’m all in favor of people checking this movie out. Great story, great characters, great effects. And I might not have seen it if my kid hadn’t expressed an interest in it, with it being a monster movie and all that.

Amen!

I knew it was coming because it was advertised on boxes of Diet Dr. Pepper for months, and I have a kid who started asking to see it about a month ago. Also, it’s a fun movie and looks great, so if you’re down for dinos, you should totally see it.

My story isn’t that interesting, but I also saw that movie completely blind and my husband and I were completely enthralled. Oldboy is always my answer to this question. You don't need to know what it's about to enjoy it.

Ahhh, I stay off the Day and Night threads. They have regular features that run about once a week that have a more manageable level of interaction to them, like The Book Nook, The Pet Thread, Tolerable Discussions and so on. The really massive threads are strictly for wasting time trying to be funny. It's a bit like

I didn’t know I was a troll!

The people here truly are lovely as long as they are not operating motor vehicles.
