In Canada the names of the defendant are usually withheld because it is too damn easy to connect them to the victim with the way the media age is.

My point was neither name should be made public until after the case pending is settled. If the verdict is for the defendant then no names should be released. If a defendant is found guilty, there name should enter public record including what charges they are found guilty of. With the media age we are in, it is not…
