Sadly the writing is so bad on the show this could never happen. I stopped halfway through the first season. I just couldn't take it anymore.

I just hope that Q turns Picard into a human again (He is a robot now right, or do I misunderstand?). I can’t stand that plot. It’s like taking the insanity of Voyager’s “Threshold” and mixing it with a boring episode of Enterprise.
If you’re looking for more Q in your life before Picard S2 drops, look no further than the licensed media of the 90s. The Spock vs Q audiobooks are still available online from Amazon, Audible, etc.
Shang Chi has not historically been known as the most loquacious comic book character.
You have perfectly summarized each point that has prevented me from talking myself into thinking that I had to like it no matter how annoying it was.
Thank you. I actually feel better now.
And yes, they’ll mess up Q, too.
And yes, I’ll probably try to watch that, too.
I really have to wonder if Michael Chabon even watched TNG and only read summaries on Memory Alpha before taking the showrunner job.
You forgot the parts where:
You’re not the only one. It makes me mad too. I’m someone who really loves to invest in a show. In the characters, in the universe, and in the plot, and Picard is lazy, rushed, and I can tell what the writers were thinking half the time, instead of being able to tell what the characters were thinking.
A-freaking-men to this!!
All they care about is people watch.
I honestly don’t know what to say to someone who feels that strongly about this show. Maybe Kudos for all the analysis? Maybe a “chill out, buddy, it’s just a tv show.”?
The endless hype from writers has gotten to the point where I can’t help but to think payola has to be involved in some way. Yes, people can like anything, but the aversion to really lay into the issues people have with it and pretend they are retrogrades doesn’t really jive.
I endorse every single word of this.
My hot take resides here:
I think I speak for a good number of trekkies when I say... too bad it didn’t stay that way. (spoilers btw, so... you’ve been warned, seriously I’m gonna get preachy and annoying if you think this show is really good, so strap in or move on.)
It stared as a scene in a self-parody of Star Trek.
And DVD TV combos
VCRs. They started out stealing VCRs.
The country wants to be Steve, but in reality we are mostly like John.
John Walker is basically every mediocre man who was promoted to a job way above their level of competence (likely after massive bragging) and now failing in every possible way. Deep down he know he isn’t good enough for the job, but at the same time he feels entitled to it, so he keeps failing and making things worse.
Didn’t the scientist from the last episode say he updated the formula to not need all the equipment?
