What is conveniently left out of that particular spin is that when the marginal tax rates were even higher than 70%, there were tons of laws that allowed all kinds of tax shelters that were outlawed in the 1986 tax reform law.

In case you aren’t aware how “marginal” taxation works, which it appears you are not, here’s a simplified theoretical breakdown, using nice round made up numbers. No matter how much you make, you are only taxed on the same rate as everyone else, on the money below a certain threshold.
Simple question: Do you understand how marginal tax rates work? Can you state it here in one sentence?
Paycheques? ...are you even American?
You’re an idiot and/or a shill for oligarchs if you think there’s anything unreasonable about a 70% marginal tax rate on income above 10 million dollars.
Oh, you mean it is/was absurd according to your insane political beliefs. I suppose that’s true. Cool. Though it’s weird how you guys are pretty shy about expressing those beliefs and instead pretend there is some consequentialist reason why a proposed policy is absurd. I think we’d all be happy to hear about how…
Why? As the article points out, it was approximately the top marginal rate in the not too distant past. What about makes 70% absurd now compared to then?
It isn’t. We have been there before. However, I’d argue it is not nearly as effective as other avenues of taxation, such as capital gains, carbon, and on the stock market.
“Fuck this guy” really isn’t strong enough for what I’m feeling towards him.
Surely you mean former interim Michigan State president...?
Guys, please don’t engage the trolls. Flag, dismiss, and warn others.
This is without a doubt one of the most difficult subjects to dissect and comment on, and there simply is no easy this is great or this is terrible answer. As a grown black man grown up in the south of the US, I know the tragic and violent nature of white supremacy and it’s affect on my small portion of world. To…
The answer to your question is very quite simplistic, The First Amendment. France doesn’t have it, and we do. In America, you are allowed your freedom of speech, artistic expression, as long as it isn’t a call do action. You cant expect the French government to act/rule based on the standards we have here in America.…
Marie LePen needs to shut the fuck up and sit this one out. As long as she’s allowed to spew her coded racist shit, anybody can.
1. Its Trump propaganda.
Photos of fast food piled on fancy trays and photos of trash overflowing wastebaskets in national parks should be the enduring visual legacy of the Trump administration.
There are lots of American women over the age of 35, too, and he fucking haaaaates us. So yeah, BS called.
“Summa cum laude at Liberty University and this is what I’m doing.”
I call BS. African-Americans are American, and he doesn’t like them.
Exactly, as a woman or a man you should be more worried about a male attacker. What part of that do you have a problem with?
