Can anyone explain to me David Lynch’s style? i.e. what is he attempting to evoke with his films and/or convey through the use of his surrealist imagery and horror? I never “got it”, other than a feeling of revulsion for his work in general.

There is never a story of a 15 year old having sex with a 35 year old that is positive and reassuring. Rape is rape is rape is rape. Compiling that with having strong sex scenes about this in a movie? Yeah, it deserves the higher film rating.
