American Democracy died when Trump was elected, what we are seeing now, are simply the seizures of a system that is decaying rapidly, aided by the cancer that is the GOP and the aneurysm that Trump represents in it’s collective brain.

Just keep reminding yourself... none of this is normal. This is not how you run a government, a buisness, or any sort of organization. This is a circus, and people like Trump rule through chaos. The chaos undermines our democracy, and makes it impossible to focus on what is actually happening.

Exactly this. It removes the ability for an outsider or a less conventional candidate from getting a legitimate shot. The insiders basically control the race from before it’ beginning. This was a perfectly fine response. ICE should be functioning to go after immigrants who are here to commit serious crimes, aka drug running, gang activity, etc... ICE has a legitimate function, and abolishing them would only lead to other agencies having to do the same work.

Of course there is an agenda. When you sign up to lead a movement or a march you have to know that you will face a high degree of scrutiny.

A reckoning for this was coming sooner or later. The ugliness of the Nation of Islam has always been there, many of us ignored or rationalized it because of the empowerment that they seemed to symbolize. But we cannot continue to ignore the hate which dwells directly at it’s core.

White folks really do live in a different America, one where the police are these near perfect instruments of law enforcement. I blame the cop procedural shows like NYPD Blue, and reality shows like cops, where the police are always in the right, and the only thing that prevents justice are lawyers or the actual…

Can confirm, did jury duty a few years back, and a thirty something white female teacher said quote “I assume if the police put you in hand cuffs your a criminal, they don’t arrest people for nothing.”

He doesn’t and won’t care. The people who vote for him don’t care about any of this. They aren’t paying attention, and if they are, they only hear Trump ‘did something bold’.

Where was the defense, how do you not force the guy to change directions?

They lied about ‘illegal’ immigrants bringing crime gangs and now... they lie about the effectiveness of a wall. They lie about everything and anything to justify their bigoted and racist actions.

This is disgusting. Our government is now pumping out propaganda at a level unseen since WW2, where at least it was understandable.

You have to balance public perception with practical gains.

The only thing republicans and corporations respect is power.

They really are constantly doubling down on being the worst.

Negotiations are just that... you don’t get eveything you want. But they showed they have power, and that the power they wield is enough to make the legislature blink.

If you can look at that mural, and not see the racism and violent bigoted hatred, you have deep racist tendencies, and are living in a world where you are so bathed in hate you need counseling.
