All of what you just spouted can be learned in a classroom, or on-line, or at a museum or grave yard where such displays belong. You don’t need a statue history and the tragedy of the civil war.

If the revolution had failed, I doubt there would be monuments to Washington or Jefferson as large and pervasive as the monuments the ones to conderate generals and soldiers as there is across the south.

And at those memorials, are there huge heroic statues of German soldiers with gleaming Caucasian faces and large swastikas overhead? Nope.

White supremacy and Nazism are a cancer. Germany learned this after the death of millions of it’s citizens. They banned the swastika, heavily policed former nazi’s, and took extreme measure to insure that it never again become a national force. We unfortunately did not learn this lesson, and there will be a reckoning.…

Since these statues are supposedly about history... how about we just erected another statue, next to existing statue, of a black union shoulder with a bayonet pointed at the original statue, and change the positions of the arms of the original statue into one of surrender, possibly holding a white flag?
