in 7 and 8 we did Egypt, first fleet (for the 1000th time) and James cook. We did the French Revolution and aboriginal cultural history as well. In 9 and 10 in was all Ancient Greece and European History.
please, please go ahead and tell someone from a different culture that they are the problem when they consistently hit the same wall of ignorance and denial that they find damaging. It makes you look super tolerant and not AT ALL hypocritical.
I'm just wondering how you know they've never said anything about Snoops misogyny before?
actually... This is an article about a Halloween costume.
This is the perfect way to put this. There is no fucking end to the amount of discussion we can have on this forum and they can each have separate threads and everyone spends time telling everyone what they are and aren't allowed to say instead of just talking about interesting shit! I comment here for fun and good…
nope, only the art house in my city played it. It did eventually come to the one chain cinema we have but only in "Gold Class" where it's $45 a ticket.
when I was in school (finished year 12 in 2003) there was so little history is high school and it was mostly elective. We had "SOSE" which was supposed to be history, geography and other "social sciences". It was a farce, I hardly learned a thing!
holy shit! Thanks for educating me on my own countries history! What a fucking REVELATION.
Sooo, what? Should we just comment the same thing?
I wasn't fucking excusing Iggy Azalea!!!!! I was asking to broaden the conversation for the EXACT reasons rinnie has stated above. IGGY AZALEA IS A RACIST PIECE OF SHIT. We all ALREADY know that, it's fucking boring to sit around in a fucking echo chamber bitching about HER. Let's evolve the conversation to come up…
I was having a conversation about that with a mum at my school the other day. She's an immigrant from Sudan, her son was born here she's worried about the same thing. Her son is calling himself "Gangsta" and talking about living in the ghetto and she's all "uhhhh.... No."
we were taught it existed but I had no idea of the extent of it until I did a unit about the history slavery. We know there was a war that "freed the slaves" but I didn't learn of segregation until I was 16 years old. 16.
yes we have "black" people. There are indigenous Australians as well as immigrants from other parts of the world. However, Australian racial relations are not the same as Americas. I'm just wondering what you know about racial relations in, say, Norway? What about China? Malaysia?
Number 2 should be 1. Bolded and capitalised.
Urgh. These types of articles give me the jeebies no matter what stupid bullshit they're wrapped in. It's a "Hey, you have X problem with opposite (and it's always opposite) sex then buy all this shit! Problem solved!".
Iggy Azalea's racism is obvious, I've seen her tweets etc etc. I shouldn't need to point out the obvious. I can, however, point out that people like Iggy can be produced by cultural imperialism. The accusations (however dim witted) of "derailing" I can tolerate but the fact that pretty much everyone who replied to me…
what you called co-opting, I call the influence of cultural imperialism. Australia has it's own hip-hop scene but to be "marketable" to Americans they have to act like American musicians. And the only way to make bank is to marketable to Americans. See what I'm getting at here?
*sigh* go troll elsewhere. You're boring.
one thing I will give you: You know that American companies exist in other countries, right? Like, most of the big companies in Australia are American imports. (20th C, Apple, google etc etc)
