Until they stop subsidizing oil and gas, I see no reason why they shouldn’t subsidize renewables and fuel efficient or electric vehicles.

Also, the vast majority of road maintenance comes out of general taxes, not the gas tax. They act like EV owners and cyclists are using the road for “free”, but we all pay for it in the municipal, state and federal taxes.

Really wanted to buy a 20th Anniversary Nissan Maxima. Went to a Nissan dealer to test drive one. After twenty minutes of trying, I finally flag down a sales person. He walks up to me, looks me up and down, says “you can’t afford that car, you’re just here for a joy ride”, and walked away. Haven’t been inside a Nissan…

Nah, “enthusiasts” are not exclusive to ICE. I’ve been a car nut all my life, and I STILL drive an EV because most of the interesting engineering isn’t confined to what it uses as an energy source. Plus, they’re way more fun to drive.

A large portion of the population live paycheque to paycheque and can’t afford to have an emergency fund. That’s a luxury many many people do not have.

They should ban everything that isn’t at least a hybrid by 2025. There is literally no reason any company couldn’t go hybrid across the entire line tomorrow.
