For most white Americans though, “whiteness/white people” is synonymous with “white privilege.” An attack on one is necessarily seen as an attack on the other.
White people are not under attack. White privilege is under attack, because people are working for fairness and justice. Justice and privilege are polar opposites, by definition..... and if people think that too much white privilege has been lost in America circa 2017, then they will not like where the justice train…

Obama commuted the sentences of drug offenders, which is different than issuing a pardon. Commuting reduces court-issued sentence (e.g., shorter jail term) while a pardon forgives the crime itself.
I think it’s a pretty shitty way to keep powerful people (like Arpaio, or Bush / Clinton’s own family members) from going to jail, although I support Obama’s decision to pardon minor drug offenders from insane prison sentences.
