@avclub-f62296b9393b6ab9229ebde91ed8469f:disqus Luckily that won't hold true for much longer, I'm sure.  Patents only last 20 years, Star Fox came out 20 years ago last month, and the Super FX chip had to have been patented before that because (in the US at least) you're not allowed to apply for a patent for something

It did and does; it sends a full set of anonymized data about the issue you encountered back to Microsoft.  It seems like it does nothing because it's not to take care of your specific issue then and there, but rather so that Microsoft becomes aware of potential bugs and can fix them in future patches or service packs.

Chuck was actually God the whole time, Cas just assumed he was dead because he thought he was just a prophet and there can only be one prophet on Earth at a time.  That was the point of that last scene in season 5 with Chuck in white.  Rob Benedict confirmed at a con Q&A that Kripke basically said as much to him.

I know this post was a joke, but it's the perfect example to point something out: there's a big difference between saying someone is wrong and calling them stupid, and part of the problem with modern discussions is that plenty of people treat them the same, they think that when you call them wrong you're saying that

David said the _character_ was dead.  That's why Asner mentioned playing three roles in the same year when he started out.

@waxlion:disqus Oh, I might be remembering wrong, you could be right about that.  I thought I read that they were both filmed during the original episodes, but I read about it months ago.

Those weren't deleted scenes in the sense that they were meant to be shown in the episodes; they were just filmed at the same time specifically with the intent of using them in the fake clip show, and Harmon didn't tell the cast what was up with them until that episode was put together.

I can see it for saying that it's explicitly it's in the same continuity, but are you certain that titles are under copyright?  I was sure that titles fell exclusively under trademark.  That's why you see "TM" and  "(R)" labels when using the names of copyrighted works, never "(C)".

Well, that's sort of the point of the legal battle.  In the US, if someone that holds a trademark doesn't fight every violation of that trademark that they can, then legally the trademark can be said to be abandoned.  Even if the product goes nowhere, if someone's promoting something using your trademark, you _have_

Because scientists love coming up with "clever" names for things.  Just look at how many particle accelerators are named with horribly forced acronyms!

You know what's more entertaining than all these stupid Teddy Roosevelt jokes?  Takling about the _actual_ stuff he did like this post.  If someone's awesome, you don't need to use dumb jokes like "when he said bully pulpit, he meant he was going to beat people up" to show that they're awesome.

That's what happens in this sort of situation, though.

Even if all art companies were de facto international, that unfortunately wouldn't automatically make translation universally cost effective, and I don't think that even with one market, translation _could_ be consistently profitable.  Even for the companies that are international already, translation can take a lot

Yeah, exactly.  He said at the very start of the episode that his ring was almost out of power from hauling the Javelin all the way from another galaxy.

There's also the fact that the Spectre is literally the manifestation of the wrath of the Judeo-Christian god; in fact, they actually said outright that his predecessor, Eclipso, was the spirit that went door to door during the Egyptian plagues to kill the firstborn children.

I was just mirroring the wording; the Christians stole it as much as we did, was the point I was making.  In neither case is "stole" quite the right word to use.
