It seems fair to me. After all, originally Christians stole the midwinter honoring of the Roman god of the harvest and turned it into an excuse to celebrate the birth of their messiah.
They weren't killed off there, just knocked out from sickness. You weren't supposed to think that killed them.
That's in part because this _was_ the first appearance of the Injustice League. This episode was produced before that one, but it was aired after. (That's also why you have the weirdness of Shade mentioning in the other episode that he tried being in an Injustice League before.)
