As someone who almost didn’t answer a phone call from a very close friend this weekend because it felt exhausting- I agree.

yes this exactly. If you don’t work with/live near your friends, it gets suprisingly difficult to maintain those relationships. The traditions, no matter how dumb, keep people together and give them an excuse to see each other - especially when life is hectic

I think one of the unfortunate truths we have to come to grips with is that most art is made by fundamentally broken people. Fundamentally broken people often do things we find morally problematic. Reconciling the love of the art and the abhorrence of the actions is never going to be cut and dried. Sure, there are

I think with Ansari the punishment didn’t fit the crime (I can’t believe I just said that bc I have probably rolled my eyes at other people who have said that) I know some people hate when others say “there’s levels to these things” but there are levels to these things, and Ansari was at the lowest level possible, I

And perhaps we also need to realize that comeuppance doesn’t mean “forced to live inside a storm drain under a bridge” for the rest of one’s life.

I don’t see any reason why they can’t continue being artists. Now, whether they’re popular artists or not is up to the audience.

But in this landscape, that’s pretty good.

I say this as a white, well-off (enough) mother of a future public school student in Chicago, where we have the same issues of severe segregation and have the same pseudo-progressive white NIMBYs making the same arguments:

Given that rich white parents absolutely do take on more roles in their children’s schools (do I

I’m not a mom and never will be so I’m disqualified to speak at those functions. Lol

I love to watch movies like this because, you know that deep seated human desire to survive? I don’t have it. I’m always interested in not only how people survive these disasters, but also why? I want more from life than just “not” getting eaten by monsters! Seeing people struggle to hang on to, so little, is crazy to

That’s so funny. Because everyone I know loves it. I do think internet comment sections bring out the haters, though, which is why online, there might seem like a lot more hate than Love. ;)

If we can’t joke about things that may be sensitive issues to some people, we can’t joke about anything.

I’m sooooo over SoCal weather. I find that no variation in weather is beyond boring. I went to NorCal this past weekend and loved having to wear a jacket and scarf. I remember growing up we used to have some semblance of seasons. I miss it.

“fashion” like the above picture makes me ragey. it is not in any remotely way attractive. it looks good on the model because she is a motherfucking model and a fucking garbage sack would look good on her. i know this is true because i see the proof before my eyes: that shirt and those pants are a goddamn travesty,

Unpopular opinions:

You would think it woudl be easy enough to roast Allen without resorting to falsehoods. It’s like people who make up lies about Trump.

But for real though - would it have been any better for him to show up to the awards show and present?

I can’t think of a reply nearly as good as helgaperez’s. Check the other replies too. I’m seeing a lot of good alternatives to the traditional hijab look.

I think how you wear a headscarf will allow you to avoid cultural appropriation. There are a lot of different ways to wear headscarves - some are obviously religious, but many are not. I am sure that if you look around on fashion sites a bit you’ll find some styles that suits you but are not a culturally/religiously

I need to wash my hair daily. If I don’t it starts clumping together and looks horrible after even one day. Plus the feeling on greasy hair on my forehead and around my ears drives me nuts.
