I’ve had good luck with basic bic sticks and pilot better ballpoints on the waterproof versions, but gel, rollerballs, or any kind of “smooth” ink like an inkjoy will smear like no other. So you either need to go with the cheapest, simplest ballpoint you can find or sharpies, unfortunately. But they’re cool notebooks…
