Ow, my brain.

I saw them play a show in North Carolina years ago--maybe the Boxer tour?--and my friend and I were talking between songs about how incredible the drummer was. The older couple behind us then interjected to thank us for the kind words—they were his parents.

Is this thing on? Anyway, great job as usual, Will!

That album has several great tracks—"Circle of Trim," "Up the Nails," "Remain Lodging (at Airport 5)"—it's definitely near the top of Pollard's non-GBV output.

Aw, you made me sad about Elizabeth Peña again.

Why not Zoidberg?

I can't believe the article didn't mention that when discussing the ending. It's so completely brutal, and so completely hilarious.

It's really hard to argue with Greatest Hits, although as you say, those are all good choices. And while I wouldn't necessarily recommend it as a starting point, the She's the One soundtrack is really good and quite underrated.

Chief!

Not so much the old school as the school they tore down to build the old school.

It looked like a version of War of the Worlds, although I couldn't say which one.

I haven't seen this one, but I'd be curious to see how it compares to Wilder's Ace in the Hole, one of my all-time favorite movies.

Seconding the recommendation for The Steel Helmet. A little film that probably cost all of 20 bucks to make, but damned if it isn't great.

Because I'm neurotic, and a hypochondriac, I always think I have appendicitis when my stomach hurts. And it always freaks me out. Seriously, I'm terrified that we're all just walking around with these vestigial organs that serve no purpose other than to BLOW UP AND KILL YOU.

That's nothing. Ask one of them to say, "aluminum."

I was very disappointed with Miracle at St. Anna. There were so many great stories to tell about black soldiers in WWII, and that's the one we got?

I think that's a good point. After all, an actor's instrument is his body (and voice). If it's changed so dramatically, it's probably difficult to recalibrate your performance. Perhaps it will improve as the season goes on.

Hmmm, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the link.
