Other than craigslist and eBay (which, btw looks even more “insane”), where are you looking? Show me a low mileage (under 60k) 997 turbo in the low 40s and I’ll pay you a finders fee.

Three years ago a 997 Turbo was $35k?

Wow, really fascinating discussion on used car values. Well, at least we can all agree that 996s are complete garbage. I mean, they’re just really horrible, awful, putrid cars. They are so bad that I can’t even compliment another 911 variant without dissing the 996 in the same sentence.

You’re insane if you think these values are anywhere near the floor. There just aren’t enough actual car people who actually like to drive actual cars to absorb the huge amounts of the great cars manufactured in the past decade. 997 is a very poor buy right now. 996 is a brilliant purchase - it’s 90% of the car for

I have a 996 turbo, buddy has a 997.2 turbo which I have driven frequently. I would never give up my car for a 997. In addition to? Yes. Instead of? No way.

Yeah, also, it is a potentially 18 year old car.

I just googled them because I don’t ever remember them being offensive, and upon further review I still don’t see what the problem is?

I’d buy a 996 with no shame.

Why are you shitting on the 996 so much? Seriously, you can talk about the 997 without bashing the 996. I have a 996 C4S and have driven it extensively back to back with a friend’s 997 C4S. The 997 is more of a GT. Which is fine, if that’s what you want. The 996 is not as soft and therefore, to me, is better to drive.

Sorry but your opening statement is incorrect:

“The Porsche 997 Turbo, made from 2007-2012, used an engine derived from the Porsche 964 GT1 car, a 3.6-liter”

The engine can handle 600 hp without having to worry about the internals. At all.

This is misleading. There was no 964 GT1—only 993-based GT1s. The engine block goes further back than the 964, too.

It’s great to downgrade the 996, fried eggs and IMS bearing and whatever interior, it just gets make them cheaper for all of us who don’t consider the internet bro’s opinion as the bible of the cars ... ;-)

I checked Autotrader for manual 997 Turbos. The cheapest I could find were about $66k.

Younger talent has been hired. Cursing is on an upswing, along with short articles about how they think cars are cute and snuggly.

In the last 6 months or so, seems Jalponik has learned a new word, “Goddamn”, reminds me of my teens learning how to say different words, just can’t stop saying them thinking it’s cool.

The 997 is likely going to keep dropping for another year or two and then will start to level off and rebound. I see these being very desirable in the future. Good time to buy, but the ones with a proper gearbox are still commanding a serious premium. Every one I run across that results in a reaction of “that’s not

Super car driving you-tuber peacocking? Get out of town...

I have to admit - I’m tiring of these “here’s what I spent on x car” videos.
