Late-period Simpsons would be so much more tolerable if they just kept things simple. I don’t care if they repeat basic plots or fail to dazzle us with fancy animation. I just want a coherent story with some amusing jokes and nothing too obnoxious.

Seriously. And framing it as “disrespectful” to Beyoncé is just fucking absurd. Get a grip people. If Beyonce chooses to dress like a living Christmas tree that’s her prerogative, and if Ed Sheeran insists on his grungy garden gnome look, that’s his. Beyoncé is the aoet or pop star where her look is as much a part of

he’s talking about records released on very well-known punk labels like Iron Lung, and you’re saying “oh yeah, i remember when i cared about some shitty record by a local garage band” like they’re the same thing

this is generally the reaction when someone who THINKS they have a handle on the current punk scene encounters someone who ACTUALLY has engagement with the current punk scene

You do seem like an asshole and I’d also value your musical opinion over the AV Club’s.

Yeah I really miss the several months back in 1977 when punk wasn’t a genre observed, respected, and defined by commercial publications.

Parents take kids to graphic and violent films all the time. I recall a baby crying in a theater when I was watching a serial killer movie.  I guess they can’t find a babysitter or afford one.

Let’s compromise and start calling him Vince Vaughn Trier.

Heh, you think anyone at the AV Club knows to write about hip-hop.

Indeed....spotify recommended a 2018 release by Ritual Necromany after I kinda sorta dug Tomb Mold's latest for the Nth time, and it scratched the itch a lot better.

This list and the comments are really just ways to make me miss Heller and Metal Box and *ahem* Leonard, aren’t they?

So it is more like Dark Souls 2 than say Bloodborne. Shame.

Exactly. This is bare minimum level of engagement.  I’d rather they go deep on something they really care about than skim across the top of something they don’t.

this seems to be mostly be a list of a very particular variety of metal

Professor Black (High Spirits, Dawnbringer, Superchrist) released three excellent metal albums this year.

A best album list from a genre AV Club doesn’t even cover? Sounds legit.

Yeah, one aspect that really took the fun[?] out of it is that all of the drumming that precedes the climactic scene sounds like absolute dog shit.

Not the point, but there’s a fair amount of that going around. (Like Buddy Rich, not like Buddy Rich, who gives a shit? Plenty of jazz musicians have a lot of respect for Buddy Rich. But tell a story about an aspiring jazz musician in the 2010s who goes to the place where the most high level jazz musicians per capita

I think people like the idea of Janelle Monet more than they actually like Janelle Monet. Everytime you see her you think she is going to be unstoppable once she gets that one big hit. Then you realize how long she has been around and that hit hasn’t come yet and probably never will.

The Robert Altman and Tim Roth joint is alright, I guess.
