I’m curious, have you watched the film? I haven’t.

Uh, but this study doesn’t actually “confirm” anything. This has been spoken to by one of the authors of the actual study Brian D Earp below and which is really worth reading. Earp did say that Jezebel and Cosmo picked up on a thread that other journalists have glossed over that this study could be “another

This sounds immensely entertaining, but it also sounds largely excruciating. A nice review of something I will undoubtedly be watching while grimacing.

A little tortured scream of “I exist” is all I hear now when Recogntions drops one of their saintly truth bombs on the wicked. I will say while not actually fighting the “normalizing” of prejudices, they do keep me from looking at discussion sections most of the time which is a win for me.

oh, I didn’t see that you got a “lol” from Recognitions. Good for you.

Oof.

The whole “poseur” part of this review is more reflective of the author than the actual film. Pretty obviously Rife doesn’t dig black metal in aggregate (which is fine, it’s probably not really aimed at her) and is taking it out in a review that doesn’t even paint one of the more famous bands in a very good light

Pier & Loft is great. I wish the vinyl reissue sounded better; but that and 9 postcards are both beautiful records.

Horoshi Yoshimura’s recent reissues have been stellar. This compilation is cool, but I don’t think it’s right about this collection being the first time this music has been issued to western audiences though. Disregarding Yoshimura’s reissues, Takashi Kokubo’s “A Dream Sails Out To Sea (Get At The Wave)“ was reissued

Yeah, maybe you’re right. I just get this feeling that they’re this kind of record clerk/critic band more than anything else, so a lot of people pretend to care that there’s a new Sunn record out. I think I’d take it more seriously if the critics talking about it were more invested in “heavy” music or whatever. But

I like Sunn just fine. I still don’t understand why of all “metal” bands they’re the ones who capture non-metal fan’s imaginations. I mean good for Sunn; they deserve success and O’Malley is an interesting musician outside of the band as well. But I still don’t get why they hit rather than any number of other arty

It’s not worth engaging most of the time unfortunately. And these conversations are certainly not worth having with someone who’s not really interested in having them. Because recognitions is a common character found often in twitter and social media; I usually find them easy to ignore in other spheres because they’re

well, it’s funny. If you can tell from my posts to you, I steadily lose interest in writing back due to your whole “debate me, bro/look at me” demeanor, but strangely there’s an slight uptick when you insert a “lol” into your response and I regain a flicker of interest or self-loathing, the intersection between the

hey, I’m just killing time, but you’re probably right it is probably useless to try to get you to understand that you’re your own worst enemy on here.

You had a point? Listen, I don’t care about your personal crusade against strangers on the internet disagreeing with something you said in a previous story. I was just pointing out that it’s a useless and unseemly crusade and in fact makes anything you say that’s actually useful appear retroactively petty and

Even if one was to think a random twitter thread is what amounts to a mic drop in an argument you in fact are starting, you seem to be ignoring anything (in that very thread you linked) that contradicts your shaky point. And it’s a point I don’t really see as necessary or even interesting which is disappointing. I’ve

I always found the people bandying about words like “Lovecraftian” “eldritch” and the like haven’t actually read much Lovecraft anyway.

Not sure if that was aimed at me or not. But that seems reasonable.

I responded to someone else about Dagon, but I wasn’t enthused when I saw it, but that was when it came out. So I may have a different opinion about it now. I think I prefer Gordon’s gonzo out there “adaptions” because he doesn’t really even bother with trying to establish the same kind of mood as Lovecraft. It’s his

Also, I remember thinking Dagon was pretty disappointing simply as a Gordon flick was concerned. Funnily enough, according to IMDB, Stanley was a “Fish Monster” (uncredited) on it.
