When I was a little kid in the early sixties in England, we had a Simca and a Saab. I’m really going to have to dig to find the model numbers, but my hazy memory says the Simca was very similar to that 1500, and it was brown.
EVA foam is actually the go-to material for constructing cosplay armor. It’s ridiculously cheap, light, easy to cut and form (a heat gun or hair dryer will work) and you can texture it to look like metal, plastic, or just about anything you want.
