We need to move past the idea that ridiculous bullshit is a product of an information gap. It’s generally not. More often it’s a product of low quality and/or motivated reasoning. When dealing with someone like that, evidence and reasoning that undeniably contradicts and disproves their assertions is of little value.

My general impression is that introspection is something most people avoid unless circumstances force it on them and they can’t beat a hasty retreat back to a more comfortable perspective because they find it deeply unsettling.
