Why is talking about the reality of what Black women face anti-Black male? We are always told we’re being divisive when we talk about what’s going on. It’s a great way to silence us and nothing has to change. This has nothing to do with white people and what they want.

I have no idea how I missed this on Saturday, but I feel like I’ve mentioned this song and my love for this song once before.

Came to post the same question. Have you ever seen one of those magazine articles where they make a composite picture of what somebody would look like if they had the so-called “ideal” eyes, the “ideal” nose, etc, etc. The resulting picture is never very beautiful, and is often kind of creepy  looking. Iggy reminds me

Being white definitely hurt her and kept from doing what she wanted, but not in the way that idiot thinks. Her white arrogance got all up in the way to hurt her and keep from doing what she wanted and she still hasn’t learned.

Um, men who were/wanted to fuck her literally looked at her and said “She is white and “exotic” looking. She should have a career.” That’s not how it works for other artists. She had a bunch of Black men kissing her ass, teaching her, and pushing her simply because they were infatuated with the idea of a white female

A decade of work with people who knew what they were talking about telling her that she really wasn’t good enough to do what she was trying to do...not that she was too white to do it, but that she didn’t have the talent and needed to shift focus a little. And still she made it on the charts and still she got paid.

“Would a black woman who wanted to rap have been told to do pop instead?”

There’s always one... If that black woman proved over and over again that she couldn’t rap, it’s entirely possible they would have told her to pursue a career in pop. Not to mention the fact that if that black Australian woman tried to launch a country music career by appropriating Southern culture, she would face a

Nobody is crying any tears for this poor, beleaguered white girl who was handed a music career based on her whiteness, while a few people tried to steer her away from the cultural appropriation she so needed to commit. Fuck her.

I’ve got a $1K check owed to me since 2006 from a hip-hop publication that almost everybody in ATL once wrote for. I even wrote something for them after giving up on the money because a buddy who also worked in editorial had gone back to work for them even though he knew the money was funny (black journalism jobs be

I find it interesting amongst black people I know that you can tell who spent a significant amount of time with white people growing up simply by whether they pronounce it motherfucker or muthafucka.

I mean Lawrence was over there often enough for them to have a TV routine together. He was clearly constantly doing boyfriend activities. It was reasonable for her to entertain the idea of him being her boyfriend by his consistent behavior.

People missing the obvious. They were together for 5 years and 2 (!!!) of those years he was a bum. Relationships are messy sometimes. Sometimes it’s hard to break up with someone and it’s easier to fuck around for a bit since Issa wasn’t satisfied with the relationship at home.

I don’t think this is a fair statement.

They use hood as if it’s a negative thing... Chile, I got hood in me behind all my letters and degrees.

#TeamLawrence better take that L. I been saying Bumrence was a f-boy masking as a good/nice guy since the beginning, but commenters wanted to argue me down. But it came from Mrs. “he needed someone to support his dreams” aka Tasha herself. Haha

You know, I never did it because I always thought, like, I would end up fucking a female rapper and fucking the business up... I’m so focused on my business. I just, I gotta be honest with you. You know, she looking good. I’m spending so much money on her photo shoots. I gotta fuck a couple times.

This is the ongoing faux-intellectualism of the Right.

I AM HERE FOR THIS!

Didn’t know Michael B. Jordan was in it. Saw him in the trailer and was like “Oh shit. Excitement level going to 11.” It’s really nice to see a big time movie that is unashamedly African in feel, not just using Africa as scenery or how whites experience Africa.
