No, it was easier to control because the camera was controlled by face buttons and since the Switch version is simply an emulation it treats a movement of the analog stick as either an up, down, left, or right input, which is incredibly difficult to accurately control well.

The camera was much, much, much easier to control on the N64, but, yes, the game isn't as great as I wish it was. The DS remake is a good modernish version of it, if you can find the game and a way to play it.
