She would probably be considered too old, but I envisioned someone like Nicola Walker playing Rachel. Someone who has that weathered, bitter edge, but is still sympathetic and not without moments of sunniness.

You and me both! For a brief moment I wondered if this would be what Gone Girl was for Rosamund Pike.
Well, that's something, although it still sounds like a fairly ridiculous move.
Your point about the cast reminds me of one of the biggest problems I had when I first watched the trailer: why cast Emily Blunt in the film if they are just going to relocate the setting from London to New York?
I read the book and while it was essentially a one trick Gone Girl retread, it's gimmick (alcoholism causing unreliable memories) was well done. Not terribly deep in the grand scheme of things, but it worked.
… I know. It also won a Critics Choice Award.
So sorry for the late reply!
But Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is also bringing the awards, so there's that. I doubt the reboot of Dynasty will be bringing similar good reviews (although stranger things have happened).
Pretty much. I watched the first season and part of the second and told my friends it was a 'hip hop version of Dynasty.'
Because we all remember what a rousing success the CW reboot of Melrose Place was like.
It would require strong team of writers to handle such tonal unease, but I really like your outline!
Of all the supporting performances in Gone Girl, hers was the least colorful, admittedly. (My personal favorite was Carrie Coon as Margo).
She was a lot of fun in Gone Girl. Like the OP said, when she can bring some humor to a role, she shines.
Fair enough.
No, she is not. I know she's also doing the English-language French series Versailles (it's pretty terrible, but she's unquestionably the best part of it).
That I am! Just finished my MA, moved house, and starting the search for temp jobs and full-time employment. All about being methodical (and trying to stay one step ahead of those Tory bastards in charge).
Weeeeeee! What fun news.
I know next week's episode is supposed to be directed by Jennifer Lynch, so I'm hoping for some Boxing Helena campiness.
If only they would do a proper anthology season just once.
And that's why it's so funny. At least the actors know how to sell the dialogue.
