I think it's 50-50 at this point. It would be interesting if they maintain the format for the whole series just to show they can do something aesthetically different. But, and I could very well be wrong, I just have a feeling that the 'reality'/reenactment' segments will bleed over or be reversed in one way or

It's the dialogue that's always the comic relief. Case in point, from the first episode:

Actually, having the 'real' segments be monologues from ghosts would be an interesting move…

That and the 'I Am Anne Frank' episodes really were something special, weren't they. For once, AHS showed that it was willing to care about its characters (it helped they had such a talented cast, stock full of recognizable faces and lesser known names) and it made all the difference.

I love Lizzie Brocheré, so this is disappointing to hear. She's such a great, underrated actress.

'Enjoying unreliable narration means trusting that the story-building process is reliable.'

SPOILER ALERT

I know many have already mentioned the ending (and I'll echo the calls that it was completely botched and stupid), but even then, something about this adaptation felt a little too cutesy. Damn, that was a beautiful read!

I feel bad for those who have to come up with such mental contortions as to why they like something, like a silly pop tune.

On the hip-hop note, man, 1996 was a great year alone for The Score>. If only 'Ready or Not' had won Song of the Year at the Grammys (I know, the Grammys are bullshit, whatever). I never thought rapping over an Enya sample would be so hypnotic.

I've missed your comments, so this is exactly the perk my morning needed! Thank you.

Garbage is unabashedly one of absolute favorite bands. I just loved their fusion of rock, trip-hop, electronica, and pop.

Precisely. There's a lot of music I liked from that era that would likely cause people to roll their eyes. However, who cares? If you like it, you like it!

Ha, funny you mention Husker Du: I met Grant Hart at an art opening a year back.

If nothing else, Romeo + Juliet had beautiful production design and a terrific soundtrack (Garbage's '#1 Crush' and Radiohead's 'Exit Music for a Film' and 'Talk Show Host' remain some of the most played songs on my iPod).

A fascinating read.

Were there Amazonian dominatrix types afoot?

This reminds me that I still need to read The Woman in White.

Man, talk about a 'Team Nobody' situation!
