It’s a money grab because it’s a one-time only staging of a South American tournament in the USA seemingly just for the premium $$$$ we can charge for rights fees and tickets. Until they make it a tradition for CONCACAF and COMMEBOL to have a tourney it is just a stunt.

I think the point is more that this is a blatant one time money-grab tourney trying to piggyback off a non-existent 100 year tradition. So while the tourney does matter in the sense that it is going to be played and the results count, it’s not going to be back again in 4 years for the rest of time like the WC or Euros…
