I find the beak to be much more toned down on the TLX. Still annoying, but clearly a step in the right direction.

This is astounding both for its cognizance and the fact it was not just understood but said:

I know it’s a big asking price, and I really have no idea where the market price for these things is now, but...after the dark years of the 70s and sub 200 horsepower Corvettes, manufacturers figure out how to make power and meet emissions in the 80s, low miles, great shape, Shelby name, turbo four, like most

Who in the hell financed this dealership’s floor plan? I mean, that’s a lot of risk for what is probably a notch above a gravel lot.

Damn, it’s not often that I get to say “dupe”. Especially since I posted this over two months ago.

I remember when a beard and plaid shirt would get you called a lumberjack.

I hate that word.

I still think that the absolute pinnacle of the inexpensive compact car was the 1990 to 1991 Honda Civic hatchback.

You asked for a Ford factory 6-cylinder with 493+hp and a warranty, and I provided. You didn’t specify prices or exclusivity.

To be fair, if that really happened then I would bet 20k that the sales executive, whilst confused and probably momentarily offended, just ended up laughing about it over lunch with the other execs, they all referred to your dad as a dick, and then they went on and enjoyed the rest of their day selling cars to serious

My dad is a blue collar guy who worked his ass off for 35 years. And he doesn’t treat sales people like shit because their bosses decided to markup a high demand car.

What makes you say the dealership owner is a rich asshole? Do you personally know them? My grandfather went from being a lot boy at 18 to the owner of his own Ford dealership in his 50's and up. Would you make the same comment about my grandfather who started from literally nothing to a multi million dollar business?

You basically have three strategies: you can wait. You can pay it. Or you can buy used.

Now while I agree that salespeople can be sleazy and conniving, you should realize that the markup would have been set at the management level. A salesman is just the agent. I’m a bit disturbed that you and your father found pleasure in seeing the salesman “[walk] away with his tail between his legs,” as opposed to

I’m not saying your Dad is an asshole (of course I don’t know the guy) but being an asshole and a master negotiator are not mutually exclusive.

Holding up your hand in a stop motion to someone who’s greeting you is simply rude. I bet your dad likes to snap his fingers at waiters as well.

Your dad’s “solution” is the mark of an arrogant asshole with nothing better to do than waste people’s time who actually work for a living. Fuck your dad.

Your dad sounds like an asshole.

Hey now. Some of us can’t just throw down $4k+ out of nowhere.

With the price of a lot of good bikes over $10k and reaching up to $20k even for the less-than-exotic, financing makes some sense. Especially when some manufacturers are offering 0% interest. In fact, if you don’t finance at 0%, you’re kind of wasting money.
