The Leaf has a 0.32 Cd while IONIQ is only 0.24. At highway speeds this makes a big difference. Keep in mind the Leaf is fairly old tech so I expect the next one to be much more competitive. Also the 4-stage regenerative braking in the IONIQ helps regain a lot of potentially lost energy. Our system, in my opinion, is

Yeah as soon as the door is opened it switches to Park immediately if the car is left in D or R. There are speed restrictions for this happening (ie, it won’t shift into P if you throw the door open at speed) but if you forget to engage P then open the door without your foot on the brake it will switch to Park.

Totally understand the hesitation on the shift buttons but they become familiar pretty quickly. And IIRC the Jeep issue was that it had a gear selector but the Park was a separate button on the side or something? The IONIQ’s system, because it is totally button-based, shouldn’t have people confusing the old with the

Even with a number of people in the car you’d have absolutely no issues with your merging safely and quickly. With 218 lb-ft of torque it’s much quicker than the figures suggest and trust me when I say that your carpool passengers will thank you for not getting the Bolt. It’s very basic inside but hides this as

In Canada the only interior option is the dark grey/black. Yep. In the US I believe they will offer the light interior as well. I think its a very light beige or possibly very light grey. I haven’t seen it in person yet though since we don’t have it up here. The shift-by-wire is only applicable for the EV and is super

Depends on the volcano it was spewed from, but I’d say at least 80% have no curses.

Can confirm 28kWh battery. 88kW electric motor. 118 hp, 218 lb-ft.

“The all-electric model carries 124 miles of range, 88 kWh of battery power...”

Why wouldn’t David want to make this known to the greater Jalopnik community? He’s just reporting on what’s going on out there. You claim to have almost 20 cars in the bag so I doubt you’ll find any sympathy here. This is some capitalist, fuck-thy-neighbour thinking but if it’s working for you, then hopefully all

Thank you! That bugged me.

Jay Kay doesn’t care what we all think. He’s just happy to be here.

Not really Hyundai-like at all. Some familiar switch-gear placements and Infotainment graphics but other than that it’s a very different experience. Ride, NVH, materials are all very high-end. They are legitimate cross-shops for people in that market (7, S, A8, etc.) that are not concerned with the badge on their

Super fast, but not quite as good as everyone thinks it is...

I think that was the voice of a BMW Engineer in response to this announcement. Being in Munich and all.

The Equus and the G90 are completely different cars. It was not a rebadge but an all-new model.

Was waiting for someone to say this. So good.

As much as we all look forward to see what you come up with for each day’s COTD winner $kay, there are some bullshit comments on these pictures. Most of the time they are pretty generic and harmless a-la “airbags” or “aftermarket... something-or-other” but sometimes they are just plain uncalled for. I don’t know how

130 miles is a LOT. Most of the current offerings aren’t anywhere near that (Tesla/Bolt notwithstanding) and people buy those. This is basically a city-only car so even 80 miles is plenty for most.
