I've never heard anybody say this.

I don't get how people can sympathize with a character (who actually existed by the way) who murdered and tortured slaves and used an infants blood as a beauty product and then explained it away not 2 minutes before she was betrayed explained it away as "it being a different time, a different world".

What about my racist fellow 90s babies. Trust and believe they aren't rare.
