My wife's comp runs vista, and it's basically the same as jsmorley's. Athlon x2 4800+, 2 gigs DDR2 with onboard video (geforce 6100) running SP1. It's boot time is negligibly slower than my 5600+ with XP SP3 and does not feel any slower starting applications.

Hm. I see my experiences with vista are the exception here.

Feels weird to say, but until linux is as easy to use as XP - hell, even as easy to use as Vista - with the same hardware and software support, no. More pretty will not make me use it as a primary OS. As an instant boot on a laptop? Sure. I don't have work to do on it.

I'd give it a shot. I love Halo but I am skeptical of MMO's a lot of the time. It'd be interesting to see how they pulled it off.

Another vote for John Gabriel's GIFT from me, though there must be something more than just as large a helping of anonymity as they would like making it abnormally bad in the gaming community. Are they, for that matter, even part of the gaming community? I mean, does anyone actually know someone who is like that?
