Shouldn’t have to change your shifter, but the uniglide cassette definitely won’t fit. It’s also getting hard to find a nice 7sp cassette, or 8sp for that matter. You’re either going to have to search out NOS or be forced to go entry level which kinda sucks.

I think that’s not actually a freewheel, but the old ‘uniglide’ cassettes where the small cog is the locknut. But yes, he’ll need a new cassette for sure. I can’t remember what he has for shifters, but old XT thumbies with an 8sp cassette would be nice.

The roof rack was why I guessed Nissan. Nice truck!

Is that a Nissan?

Wheel building is great fun and very satisfying. You’ve got a big learning curve ahead of you.

I can’t afford a new CLA but I don’t want one anyhow and can afford a 20 year old merc that is actually good, so fine for me.

especially if their customers are willing to do the testing for them!

You don’t need to charge a bicycle!

Mercedes says that it already tested the EQS over more than a million miles

Judging by the spring leaves in the picture I guess you don’t live somewhere that hot. Mine is clearcoat deficient on the roof, but I can’t see that part so it’s OK. Besides, eventually the rust totally distracts you from the paint. :/

How about an Alcoholic Synonymous combo? You order a coke, but ask to leave a couple inches space in the cup and they serve you a coffee instead.

Picture#1 pretty much sums up my car timeline from ‘95-’07:

Is that the same colour as the 4runners? Hard to tell from the pic. Mine is “evergreen pearl metallic” which incidentally is almost identical to my wife’s “blue green metallic” Volvo 740 in the right light.

My W210 E55 has the nicest manual of any car I’ve owned. It hardcover and colour.

It really works!

I think ‘roof blows off’ rates a 10 on severity! But yes, I have no idea if they attempt to detect it, or if this is a systemic problem rather than a one-off.

Ha. The closing line is great.

You’ll have to ask the beetles!

No excuses. RPN on that is >100 even if this is the only car that had the defect.

Sorry, what?
