Sean — and I say this with an incredible amount of respect for you as a writer (one of my favorites on the internet), a journalist, and a person — this is legitimately clickbait bullshit. The mountain of qualifiers heaped in the second half of this article practically unwrites the first and proves that point. Except

No! It’s not hard, just don’t be an asshole!

Maybe I’m alone on this, but there were a lot of flubbed lines this week. I expect it from Jones, but everybody acted like this was the first time they had seen these words in this order. I do wonder if Thompson’s update misspronounciation of “rotisserie” was intentional or not.

Why is everyone roasting the AV Club for this? It is the right thing to do and even if they are not the Times or The Post, it still matters.

No, as this removes our reviews from the media and publicity cycle.

And it’s not like he was making fun of the Holocaust or its victims, or anything. Every joke was at his own expense.

I thought the monologue was funny. I really don’t have anything intelligent to say about it beyond that (my brain is struggling to think of things to say at this hour) but I just wanted it out there that at least someone enjoyed the monologue.

IIRC, Farrow’s statement about NBC spiking the story was harsher. I thought he said “organization with knowledge of ongoing criminal conduct.”

Agents of SHIELD, especially last season, was excellent.

Well done, Orville: this week, none of the jokes undermined the story.

I would also argue that the instance of Woody Allen is complicated by the fact that Dylan’s brother, Moses, has said that he witnessed and experienced emotional manipulation from his mother during the separation that he claims included coaching Dylan that she was abused. To not believe him is to not believe someone

Polanski is a charged and convicted child rapist (who has an additional string of allegations to his name). Woody Allen has not been charged with anything.

Woody Allen is not and never has been a member of the Academy. He never shows up to the Oscars and apparently doesn’t like the whole enterprise.

On the day that more victims of Allen come forward (if there are any) I’ll happily throw him to the wolves. Right now, he’s a brilliant filmmaker with questionable personal life aspects that I can overlook.

This here is in my search history

No, they literally mean to play the clarinet. Because Woody Allen actually plays the clarinet. There’s definitive proof and everything.

That’s basically been my thought about it too. I don’t know how usual it is for a guy to suddenly become a pedophile in his 50s, having never been accused of that before, and then apparently never do it again. There’s usually an avalanche of victims and I really think that someone would have come forward the last time

Can’t speak to Polanski, but Woody Allen hasn’t been convicted of anything.

If Allen had allegedly abused anyone else we would have already heard it by now. Ronan Farrow has been scouring the Earth for additional dirt on him and hasn’t found much. Whatever you believe about what happened between him and his daughter it doesn’t seem to have been a pattern of behavior.

And what happened to Ted Nugent as a result of that?
