One of the issues with some of the changes comes down to equivocation around the word “race”.

“Just as Tasha had this amazingly magical origin, many D&D characters have special origins—their players come up with backstories that helps set one character apart from another,” Crawford said.
They’re bringing thac0 back???
As a DM that has been a naysayer from time to time, it usually comes down to player mismatch. If some of your players are min-maxing to make ubermensch characters, and the others are deliberately giving their characters flaws to make them more interesting, you end up with having a terrble choice between throwing…
That’s true, but having it in an official book takes away from any potential
“rules-lawyer” argument.
Yeah, but as a DM it’s nice to have a tested and balanced approach for this stuff rather than just handwaving it on the fly. Especially with player stuff, I prefer everyone being on an even playing field with access to the same rules rather than giving someone ‘favoritism’ for the crunchy rules stuff.
A wizard CAN pull himself up by his bootstraps, does so precisely when he means to!
Typical Gondorian Republican response...
That’s his friend, not just a fellow comic. What CK has done is abhorrent, and I hope Dave, Sarah, and the like have given him the business over it. But they also have his back to get him to go to and stick with therapy, deal with and address his problems. That's real friendship.
Different strokes man. I thought those jokes were pretty tongue in cheek. And they made me laugh in spite of how wrong and twisted they were. The audience liked it, too.
The Prestige is better than Memento. We can quibble about the rest of the list, but Prestige is more or less perfect, and when Nolan’s getting a career Oscar it’s the one film people are going to point to as the apex of his style and craft.
Came here to see THE PRESTIGE at #1.
[1] I thought both INTERSTELLAR and INCEPTION had terrific scores by Hans Zimmer.
I love all his movies, but The Prestige may have to be number 1 for me. I forgot how great it was until I watched it recently and it’s a perfect movie.
I was young and working at a movie theater as an attendant when Memento came out. I don’t know what trailers and marketing was out at the time, but it must have advertised itself as an artsy movie. The people initially seeing the movie were an older demographic. I swear to god EVERYONE walked out of that movie…
You’re absolutely right. But there are a number of measures Zoom could take to prevent this. Some other people have already mentioned but they include:
It sounds like many of these government Zoom meetings are supposed to be public, so Zoombombing them is about the same as the protesters who show up at a council meeting and start shouting. (But far easier, since you don’t have to leave your couch.)
Yeah the ability to not let users un-mute themselves is a pretty big deal and add’s so much control and forced teleconferencing etiquette and it is super simple to use.
I am still shocked that the groups purchasing and configuring zoom for these high security institutions did not take 5 min to learn about what options for security zoom has.
It’s because it was great. Despite all the Star Wars fans who clearly just had an emotional reaction to being slightly challenged and are desperately trying to invent an objective reason for it.
