There are plenty of people in the top of their sport who don’t act like assholes (Biles, Alcarez, Tatum, Betts, Josh Allen, Messi, nearly all top women athletes). You just never hear about them because they don’t act like assholes (if you don’t know who some of those people are...its because they aren’t assholes).

I don’t think Max acting like a whiny toddler was overshadowed by McLaren. When I was done watching I was mostly left thinking ‘My one year old has less tantrums than Max does’. I do wonder about F1 (or whoever controls what radio messages get played)...they could have buried those. Or maybe there were more/worse ones

I am not telling poor people to suffer the consequences. I just don’t think we should require them to find ways to charge electric vehicles when it isn’t easy to do so. Thus my statement that regular hybrids are still good. In fact the efficiency gains of regular hybrids are probably commensurate with lower income

Telling poor people, who weren’t the ones who caused the crisis and certainly weren’t the ones who benefited from our past polluting ways, to sacrifice more is the definition of elitism…and smugness.

I have said this elsewhere, but I would definitely get a Prime (for myself...our regular hybrid is the family car) if it was just a tad sportier handling wise...I really think it could be like a poor man’s Macan/Cayenne with the right setup.

I agree with your economic analysis but only assuming it qualified for the tax credit. Without the credit you would probably never make up the difference*...why we bought a regular vs a prime earlier this year. Also, they are probably still marking up Primes and regular hybrids have some discounts.

Exactly my point. And why GM should make regular hybrids as well. We need a mix of ‘all of the above’.

Of course charging a PHEV is fine for anyone with home charging. I am talking about people who either don’t have a driveway (park curbside) or might not be able to plug-in anywhere at home because they have no control over their outlets (renters with shitty landlords). Often, but not always, these are people with

I am guessing that if there is a Cybertruck in your neighborhood, you don’t live in a lower income portion of the city. People with more money have more resources (time, ability to charge at work, etc) that low or even middle income people might not have. A regular hybrid would be perfect for them.

Except remote gas filling is quick and reliable. While remote car charging is anything but. That could change, but expecting people to dedicate 20+ minutes assuming everything goes right (charger isn’t taken or broken) of their busy lives to charge a car is borderline elitist. Not to mention that continually fast

1st Gear: Why are they just adding PHEVs. They should also add regular hybrids. There are millions of people in this country who have no way to charge at home (park curbside, rent and have no control over electrical outlets, etc).

I was surprised to learn today that roughly only half of states require motorcycles to have mirrors on them...including my home state of Massachusetts.

You need to drive ~20,000 miles to break even on carbon emissions.

EVs are actually not good for short commutes like hers. In that case gas is actually the best. As far as economics go you would never recoup the increased price with gas savings. And environmentally, with current battery production methods, you would never drive enough to offset the increased emissions associated with

A ‘Prime’ Camry (assuming its possible) would be perfect for me in a few years. Or you know what would be better, like a properly sporty version of the Rav4 Prime. A few inches lower with decent suspension and halfway decent tires...I’d buy one.

I took the Advanced Skip Barber Racing course at Mid-Ohio like 20 years ago. Most fun I have ever had. Also turned out to be the end of my brief foray into racing.

I think this + Element + Fit will be popular answers. For good reason.

Damn you for bringing logic to this discussion. /s

What is your definition of ‘small’. Do you not count the Impreza, Corolla, Civic, Mazda 3? What about the litany of sub-compact* SUVs...HRV, Crosstrek, Trax, CX-30 etc. You can argue those aren’t ‘cars’ but to me they are. Silhouette is not important to me when defining what a ‘car’ is.
