You are an awesome parent! My mom didn't let us celebrate Halloween so I only dressed up one year when I was 7. When I have kids I am going to go all out with them for Halloween.

I only went trick or treating once as a kid because my aunt insisted thst my mom let me go with her kids. I was 7. I didn't really celebrate holloween until I was 21 because my boyfriend's family has annual Halloween parties. I think it's a lot of fun. But as you pointed out, not everyone has had the same experience.
