I tried playing the PC version a month or so ago, and I’m not sure I agree. Objects are insanely magnetic, and I’d find myself getting stuck on a rail if I wasn’t going fast enough to escape its gravity. Also it was seriously hurt by Sega’s decision to omit a second analog stick— having dash, re-center camera, and

I stopped reading Lifehacker a couple of years ago when you published an "evil week" piece on taking credit for someone else's work. I haven't been a regular since. I recommend dispensing with evil week altogether; posting how to defend yourself from workplace parasites might be helpful, but telling people how to

Hit volume down button twice. That works on every phone I've owned, including iPhones.

I hate this feature, actually. There's no easy way to change something back to what you actually typed after it's made a substitution, so I find myself fighting to get it to do what I want. I guess it's less of a problem for intentional shortcuts like the ones above, but I turned it off after I spent 5 minutes trying

This is strike two, and this isn't baseball. He's out.

Turns out if you make an agreement (he signed a contract) an renege, there are consequences. I'd say "Better luck next year" but he's banned for life. Oh well, it'll only cost him $500 to drop trou at E3.

This has some major caveats. WRT54G and WRT54GS models made after a certain date aren't compatible with most custom firmware packages. You'll need a WRT54GL for guaranteed compatibility. Also when I used a WRT54GS v2, I noticed that the uplink port capped at about 35 Mb/s, so you can't really use it if you've got a

@Platypus Man: The password thing is probably a policy enforced by your company. Not much you can do about it.

@blackholeinacan: JetBlue allows you to check one bag for free as well. That being said, after finding an "Inspected by the TSA" notice in my bag a few things missing from my luggage, I've started avoiding checked luggage whenever possible.

Completely remove the ability to recline seats. Sick of having a seat back jammed into my knees.

This summary is as stupid as it is glib— you couldn't even get their country (countries, actually) of origin right, much less their intentions. This garbage wouldn't even pass muster in a freshman journalism class. Learn how to fact check.

@SheerHippo: Indeed. He just blue himself.

@Jixan: Actually, it's got a wired mode too, if that's what you need.

If you have root access, Android Wifi Tether is much nicer than PDANet. It's more along the lines of MyWi for the iPhone.

That summary is misleading— it doesn't automatically try to create the last network it connected to, it attempts to connect to your preferred network. If this happens to be an Access Point, you'll see nothing of the kind. But, if you join an ad-hoc network, it will automatically make that your preferred network,

The screenshot looks suspiciously like Subsonic's Android client.

On a historical note: I don't think jailbreakme.com's hiatus had anything to do with Apple legal. The original jailbreakme.com TIFF exploit was rapidly patched and Apple moved the browser from root into userland, making browser-based attacks considerably more difficult. This is the first browser-based exploit since

Make sure you take a backup before you use this. There are widespread reports of it disabling FaceTime and MMS. If this happens, supposedly restoring from a backup and re-running the jailbreak will fix it.

@Lassus: And yet here you are commenting. Yeah, clearly you don't care.
