The car does read speed limits (i think based on GPS data), but the driver can always manually set the speed on highway roads than what is higher than the posted speed limit. The exception is on local roads, the autopilot will not allow the max speed to be set more than 5 mph above the local speed limit

Look, I am in love with this show, the characters. Even I felt the character development was forced, Dany’s turn had very little context, and a good majority of the character development for Jamie, Tyrion, Varys etc got thrown out the door in favor of advancing the plot in a certain direction
