I hear you and I felt the same way initially. He gets better as does the show. Pity they cancelled it.

I can't say I enjoyed the next gen that much. I found it too politically correct as I did voyager. I still enjoyed them though. I'm still a big fan of the original and I think Enterprise is the most underrated of the lot. It's fantastic and I can't understand the hatred of it.
