Post Gawker pre Herb

When Jalopnik was Jalopnik.

Rafael Orlove already wrote about it here in your Archives

Shareholders have ruined business.

Honestly the more suprising part is how some people are so adamant about defending this “inflation” and corporate record profits.

which makers? I just emailed a large toyota dealership as I’m interested in the corolla cross hybrid and the rav4 hybrid. The rep emailed me back that a corolla cross h is 6 months wait, and they’re not even taking orders for rav4 h. They did say that they are doing msrp which I guess is supposed to make them sound

The last generation of the Mitsubishi’s fast cars. I believe the typical description of that evo was that it was a $40k drivetrain with a free car body on top.

I lived in farm country for 30 years. Everyone doing real work has a beater plus a “Sunday” truck, which they don’t use for truck things.

Fake engine noises for the posers that drive Chargers to begin with. There’s a market for everything and everyone.

1. Fake gas engine sound on an EV is dumb and will always be dumb

I’ll take “Fragile Masculinity for 1000" Mayim.

My god this is dumb.

I feel like we’re doing the wrong thing here. “Green” electric cars are massive, expensive road hogs that consume tons of resources take up half an acre of road and generate surprise pollution in the form of tire dust and pavement wear, exacerbated by the extrapollutionas idiots handed the keys to hyper cars crash

I refuse to be a luddite, but I also just hate to see internal combustion thrown out. Anyone who claims that EVs are more eco-friendly than a modern ICE is fooling themselves.

Nah there are some people that need to be put on the no fly list and they aren’t exactly terrorists, it the ones sexually assaulting stewardesses and picking fights with strangers for no reason.

I’m not going to tell someone what to do with their vehicle. If they prefer a certain approach, and that approach includes a touch screen, have at it.

Any modern car from the last 10-15 years would just do fine. They all have this anti-stall sort of ECU algorithm that you can crawl in the first gear without giving it a gas. Perfect for learning the biting point of the clutch. Frankly, those new-ish manuals are all the same.

My daughter learned to drive manual on my 2011 Acura TSX. It’s a pretty forgiving car to learn on. She bought a 2016 Nissan versa with a manual and that’s the car my youngest daughter is learning on. Works fine as well.

Now playing

Wow, you put shitty Spike on there but didn’t include Carmudgeon?

Obligatory “as a black person” comment.
