Nice pick for the music in the Orb screen grab... Brendan Benson's The Alternative To Love is a fantastic album.

Is there anyway to take two separate incoming ISP connections and combine them into one mega-jigga-watt download tube from teh internets? Let me explain: I live in an area where there is free wi-fi (muni-fi, not my neighbors) and I pay for cable already. Possible or just a dumb idea?

I love Wikidpad. I've been using it as my primary text organizer for a few months (or maybe even a year?) now and it's awesome. The ability to add new nodes just by typing makes it so there's zero barrier to adding new pages. I've yet to find a text app that fits my mind so well (of course, I am a programmer so I'm

The ultimate (if you're willing to pay a little bit for a decent IMAP server like Fastmail) is to have all your accounts (including gmail) forward to a secret IMAP inbox that you can also access via a web interface. Best of all possible worlds - the speed of a desktop client using IMAP, the disconnected access, the

Oh man, this looks awesome! Makes me wish I was back on a mac as my primary workstation. Soon, soon ...

Ugh. I just found the 25 hour keepalive timeout restriction in the free version. That's a deal killer for me, too - what good is it if I can't be sure my computer will be ready to log me in when I need it? I'm sure as hell not paying nearly $500 for the basic non-free version. Guess I'll try the less novice options.

Wow, Lifehacker wins again. I'd been meaning to set up a remote control client for my home PC for a while, but I was hesitant to even try - not only do I have to do frequent reboots, but then I have to connect my home PC to my work VPN after the boot sequence (which changes the network connection). I figured no remote

Hey guys, why are my comments moderated all of a sudden? I just left a comment in another thread and got the "your comment is awaiting moderation" ... but I've been an active commenter for months.

    Wow, this is really rad.

This is the first online one I've seen that offers hierarchical nesting, which is really important to me, as it's how I organize my entire life (i.e. "Mail Taxes" is under "Do 2007 Taxes" which is under "Do Taxes" which is under "Manage Finances", etc.). I use MyLifeOrganized for that, and it's a great program, but a)

I don't know if I'm the only one, but Thunderbird really seems to be crapping out on catching spam for me lately. Are there better spam catching plugins for thunderbird?

I'm currently using the R-Kiosk extension in a windowed-mode to send out to co-workers who don't use Firefox. This is to allow them to connect to a wiki on our intranet, but it's nicely disguised as an app - and also has some lock-down abilities.

Yeah - for what it's worth, we should all restrict use of the word "sync" to mean "2-way sync". 1-way "push" from Google Cal to iCal has been there from day 1, but that's not what everybody really needs.

Brilliant! I've been looking for this. I think they need to make multiple simultaneous profile support a more core part of the UI (so you can choose which "personality" you want to be on any given tab) but this is a lot better than I thought it could do already. Thanks again Gina!

FYI, it seems (for now, at least) like converting from the new Blogger to Wordpress is not easily possible. Maybe they'll fix that tomorrow in WP v2.1, but for now, if you're on the new Blogger and you want to switch to Wordpress, forget it.

I'm partial to MyLifeOrganized because it lets you set up the categories in a nested hierarchy, then flattens that out for the actual ToDo list.

For the record, there are some good digital music stores that sell music that's not infected with DRM. A couple that spring to mind are eMusic (if that's still true, I think it is), and Magnatune (which is more of a boutique label, so you won't get any well-known bands, but you'll get a lot of really awesome music,

Re: yachius, you're right about what actual "normalization" does to an audio signal, but I don't think that's what programs like iTunes and MP3Gain are actually doing. In these cases, they're not even changing the amplitude of the waveforms in the files, they're just changing a tag in the mp3 metadata that tells media
