Sorry Jim but you’re really off on this one. The only thing which let it down was its aerodynamics ( or rather the lack of them ). They were stunningly fast, very few cars on the road today in 2017 could beat it. I drove one LOTS back in the 80's/90's.

I have the advantage here of having driven a Lotus Sunbeam many many times. My best mate had one back in the late 80's ( actually he had Lotus Cortina, Sunbeam, Elite, Espirit S3 Turbo ).
