At this stage I look at my PS5 like a I would look at a fancy new graphics card for a PC. It basically just lets me play literally everything at 60fps and high resolutions, which has been so worth it to me. And that’s to say nothing of the faster load times.

I am not fully convinced that this game ever existed...

Horizon is like 30 hours to do everything, I hardly think that’s too long for an open world RPG.

Hell yeah. Control has been in my backlog for like a year and I’ll definitely jump at the chance to play the upgraded PS5 version. Can’t wait.

Destiny is the perfect spring/summer game. No other releases are really coming out and it’s fun to just make the game itself your hobby for a few months.

As someone who just came off one of his regular a months-long Destiny breaks and is slowly but surely feeling the game digging its claws into him again, I’d say the biggest thing is to embrace the fact that you’ll get sick of the game at one point or another and that extended breaks are really good.

Please just sell Silent Hill so a competent studio has a chance to not fuck it up

Now playing

Having a sort of “ritual” game where you log on for an hour or two every night and casually chip away at some progress toward a long-term goal is very relaxing and comforting. Honestly, the best explanation I’ve heard for why Destiny is fun is from this Errant Signal video, where he explains that Destiny is basically

Hell yeah, looks great. If it’s still on par with RE:7 in terms of quality I’ll love it.

Uh, you can do the mission with a fireteam.

They way they nailed the clouds in this game—how their shadows roll over the countryside and leave those enormous pools of light and shadow on the landscape—is fucking incredible. Just gorgeous, gorgeous work.

Blows my mind how much expression that guy can get out of literally just moving two dots and a mouth around on a static drawing.

What the ever loving hell is that road map lol

That’s exactly the point; whatever satire there is is so aimless and lazy that there’s no coherent message aside from “lol isn’t everyone so shitty.”

Clicked the video and was immediately reminded of how fucking unbearable the juvenile nihilism of these games is.

It’s safe to say that the PS5 UI is kind of a clunky mess. Would be so much better if it were literally just the PS4 UI with the added snappiness.

I play with headphones most of the time so the quick menu is essential for volume control. It’s also how you get to your download queue and notifications.

It’s very common design language these days to have a quick menu pop up after a hold, like on iOS or a Nintendo switch. And in any case, reversing the functionality from what it already was on the PS4 is just silly.

I would also prefer if it were just a circular button, and it’s a fundamentally stupid design choice that they switched the hold/press functions. It should obviously work so that a press takes you to the home screen and a hold brings up the quick menu. Y’know, like the design language of every other fucking device on
