Yeah this looks so aggressively un-fun. And right from the beginning people were saying it was going to feel terrible to get frozen in PvP.

It’s a little silly how excited I am to scroll through my huge list of games and see how much time I’ve actually spent with each of them.

One nice little feature: If you already have an external drive you’ve been using with your PS4, you can get that set up beforehand on the PS4 and then just eject it and plug it straight into your new PS5 and you’re good to go. I had assumed I would need to redownload everything after formatting the drive for PS5, but

I’m probably not gonna really dig into this until December 8th when the next gen upgrades drop; I neeeeeeed that 60fps. But this all sounds cool, even if the drops are a bit disappointing.

Yeah I mean there’s not some massive gulf between the two, though I personally appreciate Sony’s approach of “We believe in console generations” more. The whole idea that the Xbox Series X is just going to be a glorified Xbox One for a few years is simply not appealing to me :/

I’m so into their new approach to open world exploration stuff. Long side quests are just such a chore, and I’m much more into the idea of having relatively quick-but-interesting little things to do.

Demon’s Souls Remake wants a word.

Now playing

So apparently the backwards compatability is incredible, and, funnily enough, often outperforms Xbox Series X on 3rd party titles because the PS4 Pro versions of the games were usually a lower resolution than the Xbox One X versions. Very interesting.

hahaha I definitely do see the point that a lot of what Microsoft was attempting to do with the Xbox One was actually not bad in and of itself, they just did a god awful job of messaging it. It was truly a glorious mountain of terrible marketing.

There’s ambitious and then there’s just dumb and misguided haha. I just find it hard to get excited about a next gen console that’s essentially a glorified Xbox One, down to the controller and UI being basically identical.

Nah you can rest easy haha it’s been confirmed for a while that you can use normal external drives for PS4 games on PS5.

I do get annoyed when people say, “This is awful for an all digital console!” As if you don’t have to install the games on a disc-drive console as well.

Yes you can because it’s a PS4 game, and PS4 games can be played off of a regular HDD or an SSD on PS5. You just need to have dedicated PS5 games installed on the internal SSD.

Yeah, can’t say I find the whole “It’s just a new Xbox One” approach very appealing. The Xbox One itself was a crummy console and the only thing that made it valuable was its ability to access Game Pass. Would have much rather seen Microsoft shoot for something more ambitious.

Honestly I’m so excited for this lol

Just wanna point out that Demon’s Souls Remake/Miles Morales/Sackboy Adventures/Astro Bot Playroom is a better launch lineup than Killzone Shadowfall/Knack/Resogun (though Resogun was really good).

Honestly my favorite thing about the comic book suit in Spider-Man 2018 was how it stood out from the background and instantly made the rest of the game look almost photo realistic. It was such a wild trick it played on your eyes.

Yeah, pretty sure I’m never going to NOT use this suit. Also, very smart implementation of the framerate effect. It’s a really cool touch but I’m glad it’s optional.

Just can’t get past Ubisoft’s cringe art direction. The “how do you do, fellow kids” vibes are radioactive on this thing.

From everything I’ve read and watched, this looks to be so much more than just a tech demo pack-in. It’s a legit game, no different from a really solid $20 indie platformer. It even has like 40+ trophies.
