You know what, I really wish good things for this game. For the many, MANY flaws Anthem had, it was certainly a gorgeous, evocative experience in many ways, and the core gameplay of flying and spamming abilities was really, really strong. It’s all the scaffolding that basically needs a complete overhaul.

-_-

Yeah I had a big smile on my face when the bird flew by and they pointed out that you could follow it to a point of interest. It’s those simple little sparks of creativity that I love in a game.

That sounds great.

It appears that their main focus is exploration a la Breath of the Wild, so it’s probably safe to say that this is in a very different category than Sekiro or Uncharted. Doesn’t seem like this has the same goals as Sekiro.

God this looks good. I love the cues they’re taking from Breath of the Wild, not having waypoints or a dotted line pulling you along by the nose. The game has such a peaceful, serene vibe to it that I could just drink up for hours. Cannot wait for this.

Agreed. All of the bells and whistles won’t be there but ultimate effect will be similar. The number one thing making this demo look insane is the aggressive real time global illumination. Lots of current gen games have baked GI solutions, so they end up only approximating GI instead of actually implementing it. The

I don’t really care much, honestly. 60fps is optimal but 30fps is fine for a third person game.

Back in 2012 Square Enix shared realtime demo called Agni’s Philosophy that ended up looking much better than any of the actual games that immediately followed it.

Eh, I think some stuff will get close. The best looking stuff this gen (Red Dead 2, Anthem, and Naughty Dog’s stuff, imo) is still pretty incredible looking when you consider the ancient hardware it’s running on. I could see a first party Sony title getting within the ballpark of this, given that it’s a more linear

The people who are throwing a fit right now need to get a grip. I remember the weeping and gnashing of teeth that occured when Black Flag was running at 900p on PS4, and all of that turned out to be for nothing because we eventually got PS4 titles that look BONKERS amazing like God of War, Horizon, Naughty Dog’s

Oh, I would agree with you that Origins is better. Odyssey has a lot of cool stuff in it but it’s far too bloated and same-y for my liking. Origins had a perfect mix of vastness and variety in its environments.

Yeah you have to invest in the RPG systems to get your build set up. I get that a lot of old school AC fans don’t like the system but I generally prefer the sense of progression. Some of the later upgrades and abilities you get are almost outright broken, they’re so powerful.

About time! It’s been weirding me out that this game is coming out in like two months and yet the last time we saw a chunk of gameplay was, what, two years ago?

It was very possible to play Odyssey SUPER stealthy. If you centered your whole character build around stealth it was really fun.

What if the entire DNC and corporate media establishment was not dedicated to derailing his campaign?

That’s a really well-put reply, and I see what you’re saying. My issue is that while these games might pay a lot of lip service on the page to the idea of American imperialism being bad, they are absolutely 100% designed to make the American military look as badass as possible. It’s extremely eye-rolling to see a game
