Came for the “I hate Illinois Nazis” reference. Glad I was not disappointed.

Explosions are just pressure waves. If they’re big enough, or you’re close enough, you probably could hear them in space. But...yeah... probably really muted. Like, the Pegasus ramming the Cylon ship and then exploding might result in a dull thud at any distance where one could actually survive the carnage.

Mad Max in Space sounds amazing.

You people already had 9 years of Trump. You called him Stephen Harper. Sure, Steve-o didn’t rant on Twitter and was actually fluent in English, but the real damage was in the lies and attempts tomuzzle scientists.

The asset class isn’t the important part. The important part is how all that money is already here and nothing is gained in a tax holiday. Certainly far less than a more targeted rewrite of how something is classified as foreign or not.

Nah, the real kicker is that a bunch of that money is already here. The whole “piles of offshore money” is a legal fiction. Tax accountants create these little offshore holding companies, shove all the parent company’s profits into them, and these holding companies (at minimum) buy a bunch of US debt on the open

Well, that explains the city in Indiana.

No, I just took intro to philosophy. Spent a whole unit on fallacies. Really useful stuff. Though, I guess I could have saved myself some tuition money and looked it up on the internet for free.

Fallacy of equivocation. Mole rats are not rats. Humans are not chimpanzees. The lifespan of one does not dictate (and only loosely(!!!) predicts) the other.

Well, rent is like an asset that depreciates from 100% to 0% in 30 days. So yeah, that makes you kitchen remodel (which takes 20 years to become worthless) look really good by comparison.

YUP. Fun fact: houses are depreciating assets too. Don’t believe me? Stop maintaining the thing and tell me what it’s worth in 10 years. If you’re close to even, factor in inflation.

He ended up chugging a lot of that Kanar on screen (which according to Marc Alaimo (Dukat) was disgusting)?

Maybe, but that depends on the following seasons. TNG is the high point of the franchise, but the first season (in particular) was and is dreadful (with 1 or 2 gems)

W, and the pile of money he sent to Africa late in his term, was *very* important in turning the tide on the AIDS epidemic over there. They’re still building statues of GWB in some of those countries.

I meant the former. English 101, day 1: never use “it” unless it’s absolutely clear what “it” is referring to. My bad.

Not sure how much of it is religious and how much of it is petty, grown men jealous of how they can’t monetize their own body. Ever notice these people aren’t fond of affirmative action either? They feel entitled to not just their privilege, but everyone else’s privilege (no matter how small) too.

Don’t pretend that Democrats, who (despite ties to Wall St themselves) created and nurtured the CFPB over strenuous Bank and GOP objection, would then immediately turn around and destroy the thing they just created even though many prominent Democrats ran on defending it?

One of my children was born gigantic. >5 kilos. I told everyone, not as a brag, but because I find giant babies hilarious. Seems like most people do too. Which is why that’s pretty much the only story I tell non-relatives about my offspring.

He’s published classified American documents, but that’s not necessarily illegal. Leaking classified documents is only, really, a crime for people who abused their clearance. Since he was never cleared to begin with (unlike Pvt. Manning or Snowden), those laws don’t really apply to him. And that’s IF he was American,

Just as an FYI, even if you’re not guilty (note, I did not say innocent) of the charges against you, you *can* be committing a second crime by fleeing the country in an attempt to escape justice.
