You are forgetting the internal bays (couple of 2000lb jdams and AIM120's+) plus 18,000lbs of internal fuel. It’s taking off for a training sortie.

(edit: you should probably not read any of this. I’m going to leave this here unedited to remind myself to not drink alone on a saturday night when I’m procrastinating doing “important” stuff that I wanted to get out of the way)

What’s so bad about the GE’s? Is it specific to the F110-400's in the Tomcat or is it a general shittiness in the design that also applies to the F-16 and F-15 installs out there?

Why thank you. I do try.

The test points were basically the pilot providing feed back on the laws governing the fcs at high aoa. The f16 was just something to use as a reference. There was no loose bfm check. This was just another test of many to help engineers validate crap and adjust. The pilot report means “Hey engineers..modify your

Older Jalop here.

Actually, if they had to choose between the F100-100 or the Tf30's...they were better off sticking with the TF30's (at that early stage in the program.) F100-100 was on the shitty side. Stall prone, short service life “tons of issue” shitty. Airforce didn’t get a decent F100 until the the 220 in the mid 80's.

Take your pick.

I would need put on my comfy pants if they ever came out what it would cost to for new build A-10 in 2016.

He’s trying to word it so as to make it seem like the F-35 actually fell out of the sky.

The gun is a nice to have for the CAS role. Bullets are cost effective way handle Toyotas and Hyundais. Generally, the gun is a nice to have overall.

Actually, F-35 pilots do not have much to worry about when it comes to F-16's. In case you missed it

Going to just toss in that the 1.5 trillion is an old incorrect “guestimate” by the GAO that is no longer relevant especially considering the program restructuring and realized cost savings in the F-35 program.
Even the current estimates 900 billion - 1 trillion are irrelevant and based on old #’s and assumptions.

Well said

Sometimes, my eye twitches when I read Tyler’s articles. Then I read some of the commentators and remember this is part of the Gawker universe. It is what it is.

Looks like Former F-16 pilots who have transitioned to the F-35 are learning how to buttfuck with the F-35.

An Airbus A380 costs around $435 million dollars. It carries people and\or cargo.

Taken at face value, the episode appeared to do 4 things
