I’m glad I was able to give someone the warm and fuzzies, even inadvertently!

You’re doing as much as you can, and that means a lot. High five (and the wedding day pieces are more than understandable).
It’s extremely cheap, usually pretty poorly made clothing (most of H&M, forever 21, etc). It’s based entirely on current trends and the styles are not at all geared toward long term use.
Super cool, Everlane will be getting my business in the near future.
This is awesome and I genuinely appreciate the information.
I love this- thanks for the info. Good to know!
And I know it’s genuinely hard for them too- it blows. But there has to be a way to fix it, right? Someone has to be able to sort out a solution.
I don’t disbelieve it, my experience has just been the opposite, unfortunately.
I wasn’t just talking about clothing- more about everything we buy these days, from groceries to phones (probably should have been more clear about that). It takes a lot to be an informed consumer considering how much we all consume.
I didn’t say don’t try- I just said it was tough. Sometimes you need something ASAP and can’t order (or in my case, my packages get stolen so I don’t order often). Or you see something you like and can’t necessarily discern much about the company by googling. I just wish it was easier, that’s all!
I think that’s the real answer to this- I know I can get by with far fewer clothing items. And I would probably be happier with less.
Very true. You can make even poorly made clothing last if you really want to.
Ugh. That blows. I guess you have to buy a gd loom if you wanna be totally sure.
It’s just totally fraught. And the sheer amount of time it would take to research every single thing you purchase in order to make sure it is ethically made and transported is untenable.
Are you me?! My bf is out of town, and I’d seen the commercials, so when it came on I said ‘nope!’ out loud and lunged for the remote because I CANNOT handle that. I’m an adult, I drive, pay taxes, see a doctor at least once a year. But I’m genuinely upset by the concept of that show. It’s a hard pass.
I saw this batty one where a neighbor who had been kind of friendly with the family just walked into their house and attacked them with a hammer. They were in a rural area and it took a while for help to arrive. So unsettling!
I’m trying to shift to buy clothing items that aren’t fast fashion because of the environmental impact, and because that business model encourages this kind of manufacturing. I know higher quality clothing can be made in the same awful conditions, but at least it lasts much longer and is sometimes made under better…
That show is my jam. And now I’ve developed what may be a healthy fear of my neighbors.
Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate the cheers.
