Ma Ferguson was governor in the twenties and thirties, but I think she was the only other woman we've had yet.

OMG Yes!! Barbara Jordan is my hero!

It wouldn't be totally without precedent. Before Perry, before Bush, Texas had this badass governor:

It's been bothering/confusing me too.

Awesome. So much to love: from Super Wendy to the ghost of Ann Richards, to when the proponents of the bill were "exterminated."

"No man, not even a Supreme Court, can undo what a holy God has instituted."

Funny, lying and cheating might also be considered "shameful."

My mother said that she heard on Fox News that the protestors in the gallery support Gosnell.

This is the best of ideas.

My breasts don't "peak" at the bottom, innerboob or no. :)

I think that without real systemic change, sexual assault in the military will continue to be endemic. Power, domination, and aggression are inevitable side effects of the military culture.

We always seem to focus on the victims, never the perpetrators, which helps rapist to hide and stay unknown and invisible.

Yes, MRAs use it as an excuse. But it's still important to talk about. It still absolutely has a place in the discussion of sexual assault. A huge part of dismantling rape culture is breaking the silence, and that very much includes destroying the invisibility of male victims.

Thank you so much. I am glad that it resonated with you. I used to write a lot but not for years. I have been trying to pick it back up a bit lately. Sometimes I wonder if I am making much of a positive impact, so your encouragement and warm words mean a lot. I'm very touched. I've been triggered by stuff on here

Ok, domestic violence and non-partner sexual violence. The murder rate for US men is not within the scope of a study about those issues. There are other studies about violence that do include those things. I don't know why you are criticizing this report for not including it.

I think that domestic violence is a serious issue regardless of the gender of the victim. DV against males is underreported and likely has a high cost to society as a result of the psychological harm that it causes. But I don't understand why people have to fill every comments section about violence against women

It is a report on domestic violence. The murder rate for US men falls outside of the parameters for this particular study.

In this article, to me it makes sense to focus on the neurobiology of only one side, because I read it more as saying that the tendency of police to not take allegations seriously is due to their own very poor understanding of trauma recall, which, to someone who doesn't understand the neurobiological responses of

No, but the police routinely use psychology in their work, including conducting interviews. I don't expect officers to generally have a thorough understanding of it, but when the police are often first responders to a traumatic event, their training should perhaps include learning which those events actually are.

I think I see what happened. I didn't mean that all police are not respecting or acknowledging all woman who report any kind of rape. I will rephrase to better reflect my actual meaning: police are not respecting or acknowledging women who report rape by assailants known and unknown to the victims. I don't mean all
