If the gender is arbitrary, then there is no reason there shouldn't be more women. The fact that the gender of the characters is inconsequential, yet there are no women, is entirely the point. Women are erased in the popular imagination, unless they are fulfilling a specific female-mandatory function.

How does Brave fail the test? The whole movie is about the mother-daughter relationship. The mother and daughter talk to each other all the time about all sorts of things! Even if the mother weren't in the movie, just the scene with Merida asking Cook to unlock her door would allow the film to squeak by.

I wanted to like Jane more, but I didn't like the way the show treated her as a joke half the time and simple-minded the rest of the time. I thought there was so much potential with her character in season one, and then things kind of went flat, like many parts of the show.

I was really, really disturbed by the Craster's Keep rape, much more than the Cersei-Jaime scene. It's not about whether rape is part of the plot or not. It's about how it is depicted and framed. Including an active, brutal rape in the background over the shoulder of the speaker in the foreground for an extended

I just binge watched this a few weeks ago. The ending?! I would say it was disappointing but it was just...nothing. Trixie 4ever though.

Thank you. This article has created too much confusion.

It's a good thing I didn't say that, and corrected that misreading several times!

An Angel of Mercy! Liberating the oppressed through death! Nothing cures a rape culture like genocide, as they say.

You are the evil you despise.

You are an evil person. And ridiculous to boot.

I didn't think you were completely serious. I thought you were joking about things that aren't really funny. You are the one who came back with all your "reasons" instead of just acknowledging that it's not cool to joke about the widescale destruction of civilians. But you weren't completely joking, were you?

So your proposal has nothing to do with this murder. You are just hijacking it as an excuse for your macho eliminationist bullshit.

That's not cool.

Maybe some questions should be asked about the death of her mother. As I understand it, her father had agreed to the marriage to Iqbal, until Farzana was needed at home because her mother had died.

I did not compare the two as I've explained in other comments, and I'm sorry it was unclear.

I'm glad that you can look at ways being fat has benefited you. I think a lot of fat women (or any women who didn't get much male attention growing up) might have similar things to say. I've had the same thoughts.

Do you disagree that fat women are judged more harshly than thin women? I can't imagine that you do, so maybe you would like to try expressing a thought, because I don't know what you are trying to say.

I'm not equating the types of discrimination. They are not equal.

Of course not. Are you arguing that fat prejudice is justified because it's a mutable characteristic?

It's pathetic, but not really surprising.
